New Robot car

How Google's new robot car: Crazy good or crazy crazy?

There is something charming about engineers who decide they will alter the world. Just because they can.
So Google's announcement that it has already been testing cars that drive themselves should be met by warm feelings in many of one's more imaginative nerve-endings.
As I grasp this vastly ambitious project, Google is intending that these cars, manned as they are by vast arrays of excellent soft- and hardware, will avoid crashes and allow for fuel savings and more cars on the road (as, deductive reasoning goes, there will be no crashes). They will also allow drivers to get drunk to skunk levels, given that no self-respecting Google car would actually let the drivers take the wheel, even when they're sober.Read more..

Microsoft unveils Windows Phone 7

Techies have a new choice on the smart phone market. Monday, Microsoft announced the launch of the Windows Phone 7.
"Microsoft and its partners are delivering a different kind of mobile phone and experience — one that makes everyday tasks faster by getting more done in fewer steps and providing timely information in a ‘glance and go' format," Microsoft CEO Steve Ballamer said.
Large tile displays and clustered functions and content are just part of what Microsoft hopes will separate their offering from the competition. iPhone and Android have grabbed increasingly larger shares of the market in recent months.
The company says the phone will be available for purchase this holiday season at AT&T and T-Mobile USA stores, as well as on Amazon.com.

Mozilla Releases Firefox 4 Beta for Android, Maemo

Mozilla on Thursday released a Firefox 4 beta for Android and Maemo devices, a release that includes features like pinch-to-zoom, the Awesome Screen, and synching.
Pinch-to-zoom is now supported on multi-touch devices, Mozilla said. The beta also add access to Firefox Sync and the Awesome Screen.
Sync provides seamless activity between the Web browsing and mobile experiences; make a change on the mobile Firefox and it will automatically appear on the desktop version as well. That applies to browsing history, bookmarks, passwords, form-fill data, and open tabs across devices. The Awesome Screen, meanwhile, gives instant access to recent history, bookmarks, and tabs by tapping the Awesome Bar.

Under the hood, Mozilla said it made two big architecture changes. The alpha release included Electrolysis, which allowed the browser to run in a separate process from the one that rendered Web content - thereby producing a more responsive browser. This beta release now adds something called Layers, which Mozilla said improves overall performance and graphics areas such as scrolling, zooming and animations
